2013 has most definitely been one of the fastest years of my life, I've had serious ups and downs, adventures all over England and made some amazing memories. And I thought it only right to take a look back at my year with you lovely lot.
2013 brought me:
My first tattoo - I'd never say I regret this tattoo but it was surrounded by such drama that it almost holds bad memories for me, and my reason for getting it was pathetic. But I'll never regret it, because I still like the design, but it doesn't hold the meaning a tattoo should.
My closest friends - people often say that at university you won't make your best friends in freshers week, and I'd say that's true. My second semester definitely brought me closer to the mad lot I'm still friends with now.
My final year of being a teenager - and also a visit from my best friend from Cornwall. I woke up on my birthday morning to Keele covered in snow, but that didn't stop a very messy celebration with a great group of - really drunk - friends.
A trip to London Zoo - my boyfriend at the time took me on a trip to London Zoo which was such a brilliant day out, I'd definitely go there again! I'd love to go with my niece and nephew one day.
Woodstoke - 2013 was my first year to experience Keele's mini-festival type event, with fair ground rides and some fantastic performances. The weather was horrendous - how typical - so everyone was wondering about in waterproof ponchos and I called it a night at 5:30am.
Home - I rarely get to pop home because of how far away it is, and no the 6th photograph isn't my house (dammit) but it is in Cornwall. I made it back for my Grandma's 80th birthday and we went for a lovely meal before I popped off back up country again.
A visitor - one of my closest friends from Keele, Molly, popped down to Cornwall for a visit in July. We spent a week together at my house, I still had to work but she got some well needed sleep and sun bathing in. And it was lovely to have one of my Keele friends come all the way down 11 hours on a bus!
A quiet summer - in August I made the decision to leave my job - and a lot of money - my family and my home to move back up to Keele with my boyfriend at the time. The summer was quiet with him working a lot and me spending most of my time inside because no one was really around and I was also too skint to do anything. Summer was a bit of a turning point for me.
A new home - in September I moved in with 5 of my closest friends from halls in first year. We moved into a 6 bedroom house which we all dwell cosily in. We moved in a week before freshers commenced and made sure we celebrated as much as we could with drinking both in and out.
The brief single life of a devil - October was a really odd month for me. Halloween was my fourth night out as a single lady, and my friend wasn't having the best of nights, so to cheer him up I helped him drink £80's worth of shots - he wasn't that cheered up when he checked his bank balance in the morning.
Mike - he's easily one of the best things to happen to me in 2013. During November I also finally visited Faye's house in Sheffield, it was possibly the best weekend I'd had in ages! It was so relaxing and I even got a lovely bit of retail therapy done, just to injure my bank account that tiny bit more!
A family Christmas - I've had a brief stay in Cornwall, with exams looming and the worry of having another horrendous 14 hour journey home rather than the less daunting 11 hours. My sister cooked up a cracking Christmas dinner and I got some lovely presents as well as donations for Thailand. It's been lovely being home but I'm excited to get back and kick off 2014 with exam revision (yay) and everything else I've got in store.
2014 is a big year for me. It'll take me to Thailand, into my final year of university, into my 20's and I'm sure on many more adventures.

Sounds like you've had a great year! I love reading about your uni experiences, especially as I've just started it! Nice to hear you make closer friends in your second term, I was worrying my now close friends were getting sick of me but we'll probably end up getting closer as time goes on and we get to know each other better :) so jeal of you going to thailand! Lucky you! Have a great new year and i hope 2014 will be amazing for you! xxx
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely been eventful! I think your relationships with many of your first semester friends just become more concrete :) Aha I know the feeling :P For 6 weeks too! Definitely going to be give me some great memories for 2014! Same for you lovely :) xxx
DeleteIt looks like you had a super full year!
ReplyDeleteEven though the memories of getting your tattoo are not very sweet, I still think it's cool and there's nice symbolism there. I have three covering my upper back myself. :)

It was very busy indeed!
DeleteThat's very true, I try not to let the bad overshadow the lovely design! Ah that's awesome, I'd love to see them! x
"He wasn't as cheered up when he checked his bank account in the morning"
ReplyDeleteGood show
Haha cheers Zac. On the plus side (for me anyway) I didn't have to spend a penny all night!

Delete£80 worth of shots is crazy! I think I would of cried if I spent that much!
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a good year, your tattoo is really pretty but I feel almost the same about my first one, the only plus side is that mine is on my back so I don't have to look at it all the time.
Your 2014 already sounds exciting, hope you have an amazing time in Thailand (I'm very jealous!) and good luck with your final year at Uni!

I would have cried too, luckily not a penny of it was my own! I even offered to buy him drinks but he was insisting that he'd pay for the lot haha! Mine is also on my back. I always forget I have it and anyone that does see it doesn't think of it in the way I do - which means I don't have to be reminded of the bad things.
DeleteThank you!
