Quotes That Tell You A Lot About Student Life

By Unknown - 15:37

University is a funny place. You pay £9,000 to spend a good part of the year doing too little work and watching Netflix, going on nights out, cooking baked beans and then the other half of the year is spent stressed, crying, dying a little inside about how much you have to do. You'll learn a lot about yourself during your university years, and if these quotes don't already relate to you, then by the time you've finished university I'm certain they will...

You feel me? Students will do anything they can to avoid doing work. I've yet to meet anyone who has actually climbed a mountain to avoid writing an essay, but it really wouldn't surprise me if someone has.

Unless you're one of those lucky devils who has no lectures on a Monday.

A little less humorous and a little more serious, but I think university is an incredible place to help with personal growth. I feel like I've gained confidence and self-belief just because of university, and I think the most important thing I said to myself one day is this very quote. I'm not great at being deep, but keep this quote in mind when you're at university.

I found myself hungry a lot at university especially during hangover days. No matter how much I ate I would always be ravenous, and it was always a pretty dramatic site to behold.

This is something that won't always be a regular occurrence in your student residence, but when it does occur, you feel a little proud of yourself or your housemates. You do really feel like you or someone else you witness doing this is really making progress on the path of adult life.

Being healthy and fit is something that comes hard to many students during their university years, I know I struggled a lot during my first year. But when it comes to carbs it's hard to say goodbye. Pasta, bread and noodles are the essentials to the student diet, imagine giving them up?

Pretending to be psyched was a common occurrence for me usually during my second semester. Going out really gets tiring, so when everyone else was really up for it and I didn't fancy a night in alone I would do my best to get glammed up and put on my excitable attitude in order to psyche myself up enough for the hours ahead. You may experience this during freshers or refreshers, because partying every night isn't always easy. Tough lives we lead aye?

I don't really think this needs more of an explanation...

This is something that has annoyed me an endless amount of times. Though my tutors, as literature lecturers, were almost always equally as formal. However, there were occasions when my boyfriend asked me to check over the formality of his emails to his pharmacy lecturers, and wow did they respond lacking any basic grammar. One of his lecturers didn't even put his own name when signing off with a capital letter! Honestly, it's pretty appalling in my opinion. Yeah, that's the type of thing that appals me.

What quote tells you a lot about university? And is there a quote you currently live or did live by during your studies?

  1. I had a little giggle over this! I personally haven't climbed a mountain to avoid and essay but LOTS of my friends did this semester due to so many being close to campus. Every single one of these quotes are 100% true of my university life. I cannot believe I only have my Masters year left! I don't want to leave!

    1. Thank you! The last one is probably the most painstakingly annoying thing about student life!

  3. The last one is something that I've had so much experience of!! I've spent far too many hours of my life very carefully constructing polite emails to doctors and then got replies that need a few more hours deciphering which letters have been left out! Although now that I've actually realised that they only ever briefly glance at an email, I waste far less time. As for the washing up- I have very strong opinions on such things. Can't wait for my housemates to get their lives together ;)

    1. And adults say the younger generation has been ruined by text speak? Rubbish I say! I try my hardest not to spend too much time on them, but it's hard not to! Aha well I hope for their sakes and your sanity that they do! x
