Instaweek #3

By Unknown - 20:43

It's a little late in the week but I can't miss out on posting my new weekly feature! Last week began quite stressfully with a deadline that I barely understood, so I began my week near meltdown. It did thankfully improve with plenty of reasons to celebrate including my 21st birthday! Now I don't feel any older, but after going on nights out two weeks in a row (shock, horror) for the first time in my third year it's safe to say my body knows it's older.

So, my week began with a deadline, and how did I celebrate when it was submitted? I wrapped myself in a blanket and watched Netflix of course. After brooding over my decision to discuss Frozen in my undergraduate English essay, I was given a reason to celebrate. My boyfriend was offered a pre-registration placement meaning that he has a job for the next year and can become a qualified pharmacist. I'm so happy for him, and it means we know where we'll be living for the next year. It also means I need to get my butt in gear and start the job search!

There was also another cause for celebration this week: our university won the Varsity competition again this year against Staffordshire Uni. I'm not really a sporty person and I don't belong to any sports societies, but it's always a great night out with everyone celebrating. Unfortunately, I had a few two many and left the night out relatively early as I just can't hack it like I used to!

Whose fine booty is this then? It was a beautiful sunny day on my birthday so we decided to go to Trentham Gardens and have a stroll round, which is where this statue is! We also had lunch there at a place called Pieminister, which you guessed it is a pie shop. I've heard of it before but never been and my friend Faye was absolutely adamant we went there for lunch because she is a serious pie fiend. It was certainly a good choice! The gardens are absolutely beautiful at Trentham, I just wish it had been a little warmer, so I can't wait to go back again towards the beginning of summer.

This second photo is an old one now but I posted this throwback to summer 2012 due to the excitement of soon returning to Cornwall for the Easter holidays!

Happy 21st birthday to me! My boyfriend decided to make this amazing Victoria sponge cake covered in cream, strawberries and melted chocolate. I polished off the last of it yesterday and it was an absolute dream, he's a keeper! On Saturday morning, the day before my birthday, my house mate brought up this beautiful bunch of flowers and a balloon that had been delivered. I had absolutely no clue it was coming or who it was from, but it turns out that even when my family are all the way in Cornwall they can still make my birthday extra special!

Now is the final week of the semester before the Easter holidays commence and I have three long essays to write and a dissertation to complete, so I'll be trying hard to keep my blog content up despite what may be a chaotic few weeks. On Saturday I'll be making my way back down to Cornwall for a two week break to see my family, but with all the work I have I can't see much of a break happening!

I hope everyone had a lovely week both last and this week. If you want to stay updated with my comings and goings then follow me on Instagram, and don't forget to leave your links below!

  1. So glad you managed to have a great 21st! Trentham gardens really are beautiful, and that cake looks divine! I'm in the same boat as you regarding work - I'm off home for Easter on Saturday but with a dissertation to finish and an assignment to write, I can't see it being much of a break. We'll do this for sure though, and we'll soon be graduating in style :) Good luck for your last few weeks and try to enjoy it as much as possible xx

    1. Thank you! Yeah it's ridiculous I've been living near it for 3 years and only just been! Yeah if I'm honest I shouldn't be having much of a break with all of the work I have but I've been doing plenty of lounging so far haha! You too lovely :) xx
