Manchester and a Night with Jack Whitehall

By Unknown - 18:03

This past weekend has been an absolutely brilliant one. I've finally had the chance to leave the grips of Stoke-on-Trent for a night away despite my dwindling finances. Over the past 7 months I haven't really been away from Keele, I've had one weekend away in Sheffield, one day away in Birmingham and two weeks back home in Cornwall, and that's literally it. Compare that to some of my housemates who go home on a weekly basis, and you can see why I'm a bit tired of the place!

Anyway, onto what I've been up to! On Saturday afternoon we made a trip up to Manchester, did a lovely bit of much needed retail therapy (I've banned myself from shopping because I'm so poor but this weekend I just allowed myself a little splurge) and I got some lovely items that I'll show off in another post.

Following on from shopping our little group of four went our separate ways to meet again for lunch on Sunday. Faye and her friends were off for a night out in Manchester, whilst Sara and I were readying ourselves for a night of laughter with Jack Whitehall...

You'll have to excuse the quality of the photos!

I've never been to a comedy gig so this was something I was really looking forward to, and I knew Jack was going to put on a show after watching his Top Gear lap and interview. And that he did. It was absolutely hilarious, and anyone who went along will definitely be saying bravo (inside joke) to him! I can't fault his show at all, no jokes were repeated from his tv show appearances like you see some comedians do, and his energy was brilliant, it was definitely a good laugh!

We wondered back to Sara's friend's house to stay the night, ready to meet back up with Faye and her friends the next morning, and as I was walking around Manchester in the late evening I realised how much I would have enjoyed the experience of going to university in the city. I never thought I'd ever consider that, but seeing all the students sat outside of these quirky pubs, with so many places to go, I realised how suffocating Keele can be.

The sun decided to come out on Sunday, so off we went to meet Faye. Our group of six wondered around Manchester searching for a place to eat. We were excited to visit a place called Home Sweet Home, who had an amazing selection of cakes up on their Facebook page:

Go forth to their Facebook page now to salivate some more!

But, on arrival we were told there was a 45 minute wait for a seat, so on our hungry group went. We settled with a place called Odd, and the food was SO good.

All in all it was a lovely weekend and I can't wait until I next go away again, and considering how little time is left of this semester, that shall in fact be Cornwall!

I hope you all had a lovely weekend too!

This post is replacing Day 9 of my 30 Day Writing Challenge, for the simple reason I don't want to bombard you lovely lot. But you can check the rest of my challenge out here. I should also apologise for how rushed this post is, I'm in the middle of writing two essays!
