Day 6: Thirty interesting facts about yourself

I've had my blog for almost a year and a half now, so many of you probably know a fair bit about me, but for my new followers, and those who just want to know something random, here's thirty (interesting or not - you decide) facts about myself!

1. My hair is naturally a sandy blonde colour (no, you don't get a photo, I'm not that nice) and I hated it back then, but wouldn't mind being that colour after 5 years of red!

2. I'm struggling to think of 30 interesting facts about myself and I'm only on number 2.

3. I've gone back to an old 50 Things About Me post to find out why I could potentially be interesting. I think I've found some stuff...

4. I played drums for 3 years and constantly wish I still hadn't sold my kit when we moved into our new house, even though I barely played any more.

5. I hate the smell of lavender, it genuinely smells like rotten meat to me.

6. I'm a tad obsessed with candles and would genuinely be happy with them as a gift for any occasion (my boyfriend's already taken note of this and got me an amazing fig and honey candle as part of my Valentine's gift = happy girlfriend).

7. I've watched countless episodes of Don't Tell the Bride on repeat. I just really love a good old wedding. I love the dresses, the flowers, the venue, entertainment, the accessories, the hair, the family gathering, the food (oh god the fooooood). My favourite Don't Tell the Bride venue was probably Alnwick Tree House. Looking up their website, the whole garden is absolutely gorgeous!

8. I love the idea behind Don't Tell the Bride because it puts the groom in control. Yeah their ideas are sometimes a bit too whacky, but I hate the term 'her special day' when referring to a wedding. To me it implies that the wedding doesn't mean as much to the man as it does to the woman, and I hate this thought.

9. If the weather's nice enough, I find camping without a tent much more fun than camping with one.

10. I'm really easily wound up and most people find it quite enjoyable to annoy me. Especially my siblings and my boyfriend. I don't appreciate it one bit.

11. I'm a black belt in karate and people constantly don't believe me. Refer back to my post day 3 post on drugs and alcohol and you'll see I'm still adamant to prove it, I worked damn hard to get it!

12. I was also being scouted for SEKU - the Shotokan of England Karate Union. But my club had to close down and it was hard to find one near by, because I live in the middle of no where.

13. I probably should have mentioned this one higher up, but I live in Cornwall, in a little village that was on the news a lot during January called Porthleven. Our happy harbour lost all its boats, some were sunk and the rest were moved to the safety of the boat yard. From photos and videos I could see that Porthleven looked so empty and lacked its charm after being battered by the sea. I hope it's all back to usual when I go back home!

14. I'm going to Thailand in July and I've never even been on a plane before. And I've only seen an airport in films, so I'm absolutely terrified. If someone could tell me the exact process between arriving at the airport and getting on the plane I'll love you forever. I kind of need a passport first though!

15. Once I graduate (next year ahhhh) I hope to stay up country. Cornwall will always be my home and I adore the place, especially my village and being 2 minutes away from the beach. But I have to live in reality and I know there's very little jobs down in Cornwall. But it's a double edged sword. Living up North means I'll need to find a home, that will require rent and bills, but going home will mean the certainty of being jobless for much longer than I hope to be, so it's going to be tough!

16. I don't particularly like cities. In 2009 I visited London and adored it, but realised I couldn't live there. I love visiting cities, and could probably adapt to living in one, but I don't think I'd be 100% happy. I may end up living in one for a good few years, but eventually I want to settle in the countryside. Maybe retirement in Cornwall too!

17. The phrase 'that's what she said' is practically my catch phrase. I say it at the most inappropriate of times, sometimes it doesn't even make sense to the thing I'm responding to.

18. In my opinion, you can't beat a good steak. I love steak rare and almost always order it whenever I go to eat out. It's a little pricey but a lovely steak always makes me happy.

19. I also enjoy drinking gravy. It's apparently more normal than I thought! (I hope, else you're all judging me).

20. I love pickled onions. Especially with chip shop curry sauce (it's better than you think!).

21. Having cheese on a curry is a guilty pleasure of mine. I'm a cheese fiend and I tried this one time and it tasted amazing. I don't often do it due to how unhealthy (and weird) it is. Don't knock it until you've tried it ;)

22. This has turned into 'food facts about me' but I'm going to tell you one more anyway.

23. Egg on pizza. That is all.

24. Back to things that aren't food (well kinda) I love animals. When I was younger we had pet ducks and I'd love to have some again when I have children, they're amazing pets. I also love dogs, they're amazing company when you're home alone especially. And I just adore them, and will definitely have at least one dog.

25. Back to my ducks, for the reason I had them as pets, I've never eaten duck. I say never, I tried a little once last year when my boyfriend had some and didn't enjoy it. I don't know why, it's just my choice not to eat it.

26. I initially wasn't going to go to university. My boyfriend at the time helped to convince me, and with the help of his mum and support from both him and our college tutor, I got in to Keele. I wouldn't have it any other way now!

27. I'm not a big fan of books. So I'm probably doing totally the wrong course (which is English literature for those who don't know). I haven't read nearly enough books, and I still don't, even with the amount I'm meant to read at uni. But I'm a 2:1 student and still work hard (more so these days than I did in the past). I do love to sit down with a good book but I find with all these gadgets and people around me it's hard for me to just switch off.

28. I can't tolerate negative people. I know it may sound a bit mean but I just don't enjoy having a negative person in my life. If people are a bit down in the dumps, I'm always happy to support them. But those that are non-stop negative, about literally anything, I just can't deal with.

29. It takes me almost, or sometimes over, an hour to get to sleep. I'm one of those people who has a brain that can't switch off.

30. I keep trying to dye my hair brown but I just can't give up the red head in me...I've no idea when I'll finally go brown.

So, there you have it thirty random but perhaps not interesting facts about moi. I hope you enjoyed getting to know me a little better!

    1. I just don't like the idea of taking off mainly, because people have told me that it feels like your chest is being crushed a little, and I think I'll just pass out haha!

    2. Ive flown gliders and ive been in passenger jets. Taking off in a glider over helston is like one of those rollercoasters on crack they have in america. Compared to that taking off in a normal plane is like going on the hornet at flambards, only with less turning. Think of it like that and youre laughing!
